The Position:

Are you a food industry professional who is self-motivated and driven to create results? Do you have a passion for food and a proven track record in achieving high-level goals? Greenleaf is expanding its product portfolio and seeking a Category Manager to drive the growth of new and existing product lines. This is a critical role that will oversee the launch and ultimate profitability of Greenleaf’s non-produce product portfolio.

By working directly with vendors and cross-functionally with internal teams -- sales, purchasing, and marketing -- you will lead the charge for each new product and product line that is brought to market. Key leadership traits required include the ability to influence and to translate a long-term vision into an actionable business plan. Must build upon Greenleaf’s current product strategy by implementing a strategic sales plan for each new product line, and drive the plan by selling directly to customers.

Requirements and Skills:

Minimum 5 years of demonstrated success in a sales role
Passion for food and a curiosity to learn about food products; food/restaurant industry experience required
Driven to succeed and achieve goals
Highly proficient in MS Office tools -- Excel, Word, Power Point and CRM
Experience and comfort with analyzing numbers
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects and drive initiatives in a fast-paced environment
Agile self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively

Responsibilities:

Conduct market research to identify unique and viable products that will support Greenleaf’s market expansion. Products will be chosen based on key attributes such as brand fit, profitability, market appeal, and their ability to drive sales in a measurable way.
Clarify and assess the business case for each new product with the company’s stakeholders, including competitive analysis; develop the process and metrics for success.
Collaborate with purchasing team to identify viable sources for selected products.
Develop a strategic sales plan for each new product line, including a creating the pipeline of target accounts, sales goals and project timeline.
Track sales data every week and adjust sales strategy to achieve goals.
Manage the growing pipeline of new product requests that flow in from the customer base and assess how they relate to the overall company strategy and priorities. Work across departments to align on the feasibility of each product line.
Collaborate with salespeople to ensure that each product rollout achieves its goals.
Sell directly to chefs and buyers support the success of each product line. This position requires spending approximately 50% of the time doing direct sales.
Design and lead product training to ensure that all team members learn and retain product knowledge
Identify opportunities to improve existing SKU performance by cycling through Greenleaf’s product portfolio regularly. Determine whether low-velocity items should be promoted, replaced or retired.
Maintain accountability by overseeing and managing the life cycle of each product.

Shift: Variable depending on business needs. This is a full-time position that requires frequent local travel.
