- Assist with recruiting, hiring and training of new team members
- Identify the need for product and sales training and lead the design/execution of the training, both in office and in the field
- Coach team members on a consistent basis to ensure that salespeople are tracking towards their goals, in addition to providing coaching towards their professional development in monthly, quarterly and annual reviews

- Minimum of 3 years supervisory or management experience in a sales-related role preferred
- Minimum of 3 years restaurant and/or food industry experience preferred
- Experience managing customer relationships with positive outcomes
- Experience aligning staffing strengths with department goals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to compose business documents (letters, emails, employee reviews) using appropriate business writing format and proper grammar.
- Valid California Drivers License and a clean driving record
- Ability to make effective sales presentations to customers at a variety of levels: Chefs, Managers and Business Owners

- Existing Business Retention: Develop relationships with all customers in the territory to understand their business and meet/exceed their needs. Anticipate problems before they arise; manage current and future orders with the goal of achieving 100% order fill; use expert product knowledge to make appropriate substitutions and add lines to each order.
- Phone and email sales: The position requires constant communication with customers, entering live call and email orders; making product recommendations; developing and maintaining relationships, then utilizing those relationships to retain sales.
- Develop relationships within the industry by visiting accounts periodically either accompanied by an Outside Sales Representative or individually based on territory needs.
- Problem Solving: Anticipate product and service issues before they arise; find solutions that are a win-win for both Greenleaf and the customer; inform customers about product shortages and other service issues; provide substitute options and increase order size via suggestive selling.
- Use CRM to enter all sales-related follow up notes from customer calls and tasks.
- Communicate with OSR via phone, email, and CRM to inform them of necessary information from customer interactions.
- Attend meetings and product/sales training to continually improve skills.
- Collaborate with internal departments: Sales, Operations, Delivery, and Buyers to ensure that customers’ needs are being met within Greenleaf’s expectations.
- Must be able to manage business in existing accounts by making compelling product presentations and selling on value; engage the customer using suggestive selling with the goal of retaining Greenleaf’s market share.
- Support the sales department with additional projects or tasks as needed. This requires the ability to manage short and long-term projects with milestones, goals, and clear communication throughout.
- Product Knowledge: Study and maintain knowledge of Greenleaf’s dynamic and seasonal product catalog. Understand the quality standards for each product, the practical application for those products, and the menu of each customer using them. Product expertise must encompass all of Greenleaf’s categories and is one of the top skills that sets Greenleaf apart from its competitors.
- Must have a minimum of two years’ proven sales and/or customer service experience.
- Excellent communication skills: Written, verbal, phone, email, text
- Knowledge of Produce, Dairy, Cheese, Specialty, and Protein products
- Must have a passion for food.
- Experience in the produce, food or restaurant industry is a plus.
- A proven ability to successfully sell to various levels within each customer’s business.

The Outside Sales Representative (OSR) is responsible for managing and developing the account sales within their territory. He or she will achieve their goals by acquiring and onboarding new accounts and by increasing market share in existing accounts. The OSR is responsible for the overall growth and profitability of their territory, and will achieve it by generating new account leads, making compelling product presentations to chefs/buyers, and consistently closing each business opportunity while maintaining the highest standards of excellence. Responsibilities:
- New business development: Most sales growth in the territory will come from acquiring new accounts. This involves utilizing research, networking, cold calling, presentation and closing skills
- Existing account development: Must be able to anticipate and solve problems as they arise, while continually building business in existing accounts. Must make compelling product presentations to sell against the competition
- Must be comfortable with a varied schedule consisting primarily of cold calling and making face-to-face sales presentations with prospects and customers
- Forecasting/Analysis: Identify competitive business trends and develop a strategic plan to capitalize on them within each account using a range of tactics such as suggestive selling
- Communicate professionally and effectively with customers and fellow employees
- Collaborate with internal departments: Operations, Delivery, Buying, Customer Service to ensure that customers receive optimal service
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years restaurant or food industry experience
- Minimum of 3 years proven success in a sales role with a passion for business development
- Must have the ability to work in a fast paced, flexible environment; be able to proactively influence a chefs’ buying behavior, and also quickly react to customer needs
- Possess above-average food product knowledge
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail
- Valid California Drivers License and a clean driving record
